FAST FOOD = GOOD FOOD? – Part 1

Do your good eating plans go out the window when you are rushed?  I think we can all identify with Bill’s comment:

“While I don’t necessarily feel addicted to any type of food my general response to hunger is usually first attracted to the ‘quick-fix’ – as opposed to the task of preparing something fresher and healthier. I guess this isn’t surprising living in a busy, active metropolitan area where packaged or fast-food choices and opportunities are also more abundant.”

Because finding good food fast is such an issue, I am dedicating a post a day this week to:

“EATING IN A PINCH”

Today: BREAKFAST ON THE RUN

STARBUCKS’ PERFECT OATMEAL is a safe way to get your morning fuel.  Skip the brown sugar topping and opt for the “Nut Medley”; you will end up with about 25 grams of good carbs and 7 of protein. Add half a cup of cow’s or soymilk for an extra 4 grams of protein: nearly a full serving.  And be aware that the tempting fruit topping does contain sugar.

I am always on the lookout for new menu items that qualify as “Fast AND Good”.  I’d love to hear of any that you find, Road Warriors!

To Your Health!

Diane

P.S.  No Starbucks’ employees were harmed in the writing of this post and no compensation was received by the author- not even a tall latte’!
