Mediterranean Diet Beats Low Fat Diets Hands Down!

B-iStock_000016102020XSmallMediterranean style eating outdoes low fat diet in combating heart disease.

You have perhaps heard me rant on the benefits of a  Mediterranean-style diet?

Why do I love it? Let me count the ways!

A huge variety of delicious foods from which to choose: poultry, fish, even certain red meats and cheeses.

A rainbow of fruits and vegetables. Nuts, beans and healthy oils. And oh, did I forget to mention healthy?

The Med diet is not only enjoyable, varied and filling, but promotes optimal health for human beings in many ways.

Here is more proof:

News flash: Science confirms the wisdom of Nature.

The prestigious New England Journal of Medicine recently published a study of 7447 men and women between the ages of 55 and 80 for nearly 5 years.

All participants had one or more risk factors for cardiovascular disease such as obesity, type II diabetes, smoking, high blood pressure, etc.

They had no cardiovascular disease at the start of the study but were at high risk.

To summarize the results, the groups using the Mediterranean diet had a 30% reduction in the risk of  cardiovascular events such as stroke, heart attack or death from heart attack.

The study results are simple: the Mediterranean way of eating protects your health.

A low fat diet is not only miserable, but does not protect from cardiovascular disease!

Science is reinforcing what Nature has always taught us.  We were born to enjoy and benefit from the bounty of the earth. It is only when the food industrial complex gets in the way that we develop problems caused by what we eat!

Life is too short to be unhealthy or eat food you hate!

Learn the best way for you to follow the Mediterranean style!
